Still havn’t fixed the WebIRC problem, but *have* managed to fix my personal problem of using 5 differant browsers in 3 locations (NS4, NS6 & IE at home, NS at University, and IE at work) and having nowhere that links to all the places I go. So I have put them here on the new Aquarionics Portal. It’s a bit Rough & Ready, it isn’t Lynx compatible, and there are a few links missing, but there it is.
Ok, since the specs for the WebIRC applet have changed (I eventually had to download a new version) it may be a few days before I get ’round to putting it back up.
In other news, the newest New & Cool thing to the le… no, the right of this text (Sorry, I re-designed the interface to make it load faster (specifically, to make it load the Google & C-Net logos (which are on another server that is even slower than Aquarionics) load *after* the main content table) before discovering that the entire site now doesn’t work with the new Netscape 6 preview. Damnation & hellfire) Now I’ve got distracted, where was I?
Oh yes, In other news, the newest New & Cool thing to the le^w right of this text has just confirmed my “True Color” (blasted american spellings) is, in fact, the colour of my bedroom, Webpage, Desktop, jeans, t-shirt and socks. In fact, it says this:
You’re BLUE; the most soothing color in the spectrum. The color of a clear summer sky, or a deep, reflective ocean. Blue has traditionally symbolized trust, solitude, and loyalty. You are most likely a contemplative person who values time spent alone. When it comes to friends, you would rather connect deeply with a few people than have a bunch of loose acquaintances. You probably have a calming presence that attracts people to you. Cool and collected, you rarely overreact. Instead, you think things through before coming to a decision. Your level-headed and thoughtful approach is patently blue.
So that’s all right then.
Eeek, Broken links. Not only is Play still dead (you’d think I’d have time to finish it, given that I have nothing better to do) buy the #Eddings/#Sephy’s Kitchen IRC App (and if you don’t know what that does, I’m cannot tell you 🙂 is gone, and I’ve lost my Backups, a short panic revealed I had left it on another server. *sigh* don’t you just love it when a plan comes together?
My parents have abandoned’d me in charge of a seventeen year old, a thirteen year old and a four year old for three days. The only upside to this is that the four year old is a dog. I still have to make sure my brothers don’t kill a) one another, b) themselves, or c) me.
to this end, I am surfing the internet and drinking tea. I can do this babysitting stuff 🙂
Watched DVD’s, Played games, read Lord of the Rings. Having a week off uni gives me time to slob around in style 🙂
Also created a new webpage for my new program, Quoth.
Spent another day doing nothing. Didn’t even play games, just surfed the net & talked on IRC.
Happy Happy weekends.
Nothing interesting enough to post on has happened, so I’m going to repeat the most creative thing I’ve done all day (apart from watching the South Park Movie DVD) which is my delurk post to RHOD:
The minds eye is an infinitely versatile object, capable of rendering objects that
the most dedicated artist would find impossible to make look real. In dreams we see
another reality, and it is in dreams where this post begins.
Imagine, if you will, the multiverse. A huge sphere of multicoloured points linked
in ways our minds, conceived in one of these points, cannot possibly see. And yet
there is something around it. A sprinkling of blue sparkles surrounds the entire
area, around every point they eddy and swirl, gradually focusing on one point,
pointing, leading, like iron fillings to a magnet, and onto one point they focus and
the mind shifts perspective.
We are inside one of the points of the multiverse, one of the nodes, one of the
universes. There are many more, governed by magic, words, or just the same
more-or-less logical rules that bind our own universe together, for that is where we
are. And the blue sparkles are here also, spinning and flowing towards another,
smaller point, a swirl in the galaxy, and we zoom in further.
And further, though the clouds of stars, focusing on a string that is orbiting the
galaxy in mindnumbing slowness, and yet travelling faster than many thought
Onto a single star, orbited by 9 rocks of varying size, and as we circle the sun –
as all the rocks do – we can see the sparkles head toward a single planet, a
We spin past the lands, though the daytime, the evening and into the night, and in
the darkness we focus on a small triangular country which for the sake of argument
we shall call “England” and from there into the south-eastern corner, midway between
the bright lights of the big city and the calmness of the sea to the south.
And closer do we zoom, to a single room, and a single computer, as the blue sparkles
collate and solidify into a young male, typing at his keyboard. The figure of
Aquarion, making his de-lurk post to RHOD.
*sigh* Trust me to install Linux as soon as my erganomic KB breaks. I’m almost quite literally stuffed, I have a pain in my wrists, so this is likly to be short.
In other news, there is a couple of new links to the left (click on them, I liked them 🙂
The chances are are you have come here from one of my E-mails. People kept asking me why I sign everything is “In Total Sincerity”. There is a reason. it is this:
It is sarcasm
there is another reason, it has to do with Irony, and something I have to do this week, which is why I have restarted signing like that again. Which reminds me, I have a letter to write…
Ok, Aquarionics is back.
There are a few missing pieces of this giant jigsaw I call home, namly Play isn’t uploaded yet, and most of the AFE Photoes are in limbo until I have time to upload 2 megs on my modem line 🙂
Apart from that, if you see any problems with the site Tell Me about them!
Ok, Due to Windows on my ‘pooter being less stable than a one legged man at an arse kicking contest since I came home (for definitions of Home that include “The town where I was born”) and my inablity to connect to the internet in Linux at this time, Aquarionics has only just gone *down* completely (as in, I have only just finished the process of deleting stuff on the server that I began on Saturday) Aquarionics is dead. Or rather, it is at the moment. In fact, due to a bug report (Thanks Liz) I didn’t even realise I’d forgotten to put up a temporary “I Ain’t Dead” sign for any visitors to see. This, as of this morning, has been corrected.
In other, related, news, my Windows install has decided that it’s life as a working install is over, and now is the perfect time to die. In fact, I’ve suddenly started getting messages saying “Windows is Unstable”. I waiting for more messages informing me that Water is Wet.
If you look to your left, there is a box. In that box are the lastest good things from C-Net and the Worlds Greatest Search engine. Basically, Use them. Google is the best search engine I have ever used, and C-Net (in addition to Slashdot) hold most of the news you will ever need.
